Digi-Key to Distribute Flexxon's AI-Based X-PHY Security SSDs Worldwide
Flexxon extends its 2020 deal with Digi-Key Electronics to global distribution of the X-PHY Cybersecure SSD, sold with a subscription after a free first year.
Flexxon, a company specialising in hardware-based cybersecurity, has signed a global distribution partnership with Digi-Key Electronics, a large international distributor of electronic components and automation products. The agreement builds on a partnership the two firms struck in 2020 covering Flexxon's storage products. It now adds the X-PHY Cybersecure Solid State Drive (SSD) range, Flexxon's suite of hardware security products, all of which are listed on Digi-Key's marketplace.
According to Flexxon, the X-PHY SSD is a storage component that learns on its own and uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in its hardware and firmware to protect data at the lowest level. It also guards against physical tampering, such as detaching or cloning the drive, and can purge its contents quickly. The drive monitors behavioural patterns around the clock, and the company says it draws on Flexxon's long experience building storage products that are reliable, durable and fast.
Camellia Chan, co-founder and chief executive of Flexxon, said the company was delighted to work with Digi-Key again to bring a new generation of security products to businesses worldwide. In her view, cybersecurity sits at the centre of every business operation, and a complete security framework should start at the internal hardware level and extend out to the external environment. She described the X-PHY as a complement to software-based tools, working continuously at the physical layer to keep essential data protected.
Kaili Simpson, product manager for semiconductors at Digi-Key Electronics, said the distributor was glad to add the X-PHY products and give customers a different way to strengthen data protection. With cyber attacks and data breaches continuing without let-up, she said, a fresh approach to building a joined-up defence would help many businesses protect their critical data and assets.
Flexxon says the X-PHY SSD was designed to put organisations on a more equal footing in planning and carrying out their security. To make it accessible to companies of any size or level of expertise, the drive is priced affordably and is plug-and-play, so users can start protecting their data simply by installing it.
The product is sold on a subscription basis in addition to the upfront price of the hardware, an arrangement meant to support early adopters over the long term. The first year of the subscription is free and covers on-call technical support, training resources and other services. After that, each device costs US$9.50 a month, which the company says gives businesses more flexibility and room to adapt as they grow.
