How We Work

Who writes Cyber Security Asean, where the facts in our articles come from, how we use AI tools and how we correct mistakes.

Cyber Security Asean covers cybersecurity in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region: threat research, data breaches, regulation, and the products and services companies use to defend themselves. Articles on the site are signed by the editors rather than by a named writer.

Where our articles come from

Much of what we publish is based on material from the companies and researchers in the field: vendor research reports, product announcements, conference talks, and interviews and opinion pieces by security executives. We report that material in our own words. When an article sets out someone's view, it names them and says whose view it is.

Names, figures, survey results, dates of events and quotations are kept as their source gave them. We do not add statistics, quotes or claims that the source does not support, and when a source is vague, the article stays vague rather than filling the gap with a guess.

How we use AI tools

We use AI writing tools to help draft and rewrite articles. Every article is checked against its source material for names, numbers and quotations before it is published, and the editors decide what goes on the site.

Press releases and commercial content

Company announcements are rewritten as news reports. We remove promotional calls to action such as demo sign-ups and download forms, and we do not link out to vendors' sales pages from news coverage.

Corrections

If you find a factual error, write to [email protected] with the address of the article and what is wrong. We check the claim against the source and correct the article when it is wrong.
