G2 Grid Report Names Check Point Software a Leader in Firewall Software

Check Point Software has been rated a leader in G2's Grid Report for Firewall Software, with leadership ratings on six grids from about 940 customers.

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the global cybersecurity vendor, says it has been placed among the leaders in G2's Grid Report for Firewall Software. According to the company, the result reflects its ongoing work to bring cloud and on-premise security together, to improve performance and integration across its range of products, and to offer security management that is centralised and unified.

How G2 arrives at its ratings

G2 scores both products and vendors. It combines reviews collected from its user community, which it calls the voice of the customer, with data taken from online sources and social networks, and uses them to work out Satisfaction and Market Presence scores in real time. Within every category, customers score how satisfied they are with a solution and describe their experience of it.

Check Point Software earned leadership ratings on six grids. About 940 customers consistently placed it as a leader with exceptional market presence in Firewall Software, Cloud Data Security and Mobile Data Security, and also for advanced threat prevention, automated data centre operations, and scalable security management and compliance. The company employs more than 3,500 security experts, runs a research and intelligence unit with a worldwide reputation and describes its network of business and technology partners as the broadest in the industry. It says its aim is to help protect organisations from the fifth generation of cyber attacks.

Check Point's view of the result

Itai Greenberg, vice president of product management at Check Point Software Technologies, said the company was honoured by the recognition and valued it as genuine validation from the user community. He credited the Check Point Quantum cybersecurity platform and gateways with letting the company give customers security and performance without compromise, together with advanced threat prevention.

Greenberg called protection of the new hybrid work environment "a top priority" for Check Point. In his account, real-time threat intelligence, visibility, and the freedom to move workloads between the data centre and the cloud have allowed the company to transform the hybrid data centre and give remote staff and enterprises security he described as unmatched.

What reviewers said

Reviewers ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to global enterprises consistently gave Check Point Next Generation Firewall five stars, and around 90% said they would recommend the firewalls to other organisations. The reports include comments such as these:

  • A telecommunications engineer named the highest possible level of security as the product's main strength, adding that its signature and threat database is updated all the time and that it can stop zero-day attacks.
  • A reviewer in financial services said that managing everything through the Smart Console dashboard keeps their infrastructure easy to run and support. Being able to manage, read logs and look into problems from one central dashboard, the reviewer added, makes troubleshooting and investigating network issues simpler in daily operations.
  • An executive sponsor in government administration called it "an excellent product" that makes it easy to administer the main aspects of security.

Check Point says it is changing how organisations protect hybrid data centres with Check Point R81.10, Quantum Maestro and the Quantum Smart-1 security management appliances. On the strength of G2's evaluations, the company argues, customers can be confident the technology will simplify the orchestration of data centre workflows and let them scale their security gateways as demand requires.
