Why No Company Ever Needs to Pay a Ransomware Demand

The concept of ransomware is simple: Attackers use malicious software to prevent access to specific data or systems until the owner pays to unlock them. However, ransomware tactics have evolved over time and continue to pose a significant threat to both small and large businesses, causing significant financial damage.

According to a Cybereason report:

  • A business experiences a ransomware attack on average every 11 seconds.
  • Global ransomware damage losses are expected to reach USD $20 billion this year.
  • More than half (53%) of respondents said a ransomware attack harmed their organisation's brand.

In recent months, ransomware attacks have dominated the mainstream media. With the number and frequency of ransomware attacks on the rise, as well as the evolution of distribution methods, this should serve as a wake-up call for businesses to beef up their defences.
