KPMG International announces Cloud Cyber Defense and Data Governance programs in Collaboration with Microsoft

KPMG International joins forces with Microsoft and announces the release of two jointly developed security offerings to improve both the data governance and cyber defense capabilities of organizations.

The new programs, Data Governance and Cloud Cyber Defense, will help businesses improve their security monitoring and incident response capabilities by combining KPMG's cyber security, incident response and industry experience with Microsoft's advanced cybersecurity technologies.

“Extending the security expertise of KPMG professionals with Microsoft technologies enables us to deliver broad ranging security solutions to clients that aim to contribute to both the security of their organizations, as well as their organizational business goals,” said Greg Bell, KPMG Global Cyber Security Services Co-Leader, KPMG International. “Given the compliance focus on data security and the nature of expanding security threats, data governance and cyber defense are amongst the key security capabilities for an organization to invest in.”

Data Governance
Many organizations across the world use Microsoft products and services, including security solutions such as Microsoft Azure Information Protection. In many situations, security solutions are not used to the full extent of their capabilities. KPMG's broad knowledge and experience in data governance and policy-based access, combined with Azure Information Protection to its full strength, will help organizations improve the security of their data without introducing a burden of complexity for end-users.

The Data Governance program consists of a data inventory assessment, policies to classify and protect data during its lifecycle, a roadmap to efficiently implement the technology and supporting processes and the capabilities for continuous improvement. The results of this joint offering will help clients overcome compliance gaps and extend their data security by a portfolio of capabilities that combines KPMG's cyber security, data management and industry experience with Azure Information Protection technology.

Cloud Cyber Defense
Microsoft's focus on security in recent years resulted in the accelerated development and maturity of the security offerings and technology. Organizations that are using Azure have access to advanced security technology to further improve their own security. Technology such as Azure Security Center, help to enable organizations to centralize security monitoring and incident response capabilities across technologies, departments and regions. Combining good industry practices and security experience with Microsoft technology will enable organizations to operate and secure their cloud environment in Azure to its full potential.

Ann Johnson, Vice President, Strategic, Enterprise and Cybersecurity, Microsoft Corp. said, “KPMG's strengths in cyber defense and data governance increase the value of Microsoft technology for our customers, by enabling them to reduce security risks and maintain control over data. By joining forces with KPMG in delivering solutions, we can better secure customers across the globe.”

In addition to the two new service offerings, KPMG and Microsoft offer a GDPR Discovery and Maturity Assessment to help companies meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the landmark data privacy law that came into force 25 May 2018.
